This is near PSU, south of downtown. I’m in Portland, OR for a week, and what I’m noticing on this visit is that there’s a lot of bike parking, but very little of it is covered. And in fact there’s quite a bit of fauxverhang as well.

But I just like the way the bike parking is set up at this sweet mid-century modern office, with some outside the locked doors for visitors, and some inside for employees.

I was sort of shocked to discover a spot downtown with no bike racks at all. The nearest spot is across the street and down the block in a park, which was not acceptable. I definitely had to work to make sure I wasn’t blocking the sidewalk for pedestrians, too.

What is it with bad bike parking at bike shops? And what you can’t see is that the rack isn’t even attached to the pavement.

I don’t know if there was bike parking anywhere else, but I did notice this while going in the Red Gate. Given how crazy parking is at the fair…and how nice the weather was…you’d think they’d have had some actual bike parking!

This building has three entrances: one with an excellent parking setup, one that’s not so great, and this one.

No cover, and oddly hidden from the front entrance.

Generally, I like the parking here. There’s lots of it, and it’s close to the market. But on this first rainy day of fall, its main failing become apparent. (This is also true when it’s particularly hot out.)

A tweet with photos. That is one beat-up A-frame, and of course no cover. (I don’t think there’s any covered bike parking downtown, except at the library.)

I’m pretty sure I’ve posted this location before, but I thought it was worth showing an attempt to park two bikes here. (The other bike is my Townie, borrowed by my sister in from out of town.)
